Leon Rivlin MD
Emergency Medicine Physician, Humber River Health
Dr. Leon Rivlin has been practicing chronic pain medicine since 2005. He completed his training in at U of T, working alongside anesthesiologists with expertise in pain management prior to the establishment of the formal Chronic Pain Fellowship Program.
In 2009, Dr. Rivlin founded his own chronic pain practice. He has contributed to setting provincial standards in pain care through his work with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), serving both as a reviewer helping to establish chronic pain management guidelines and as a peer evaluator for physicians transitioning their scope of practice into chronic pain.
Dr. Rivlin’s clinic is a community academic center affiliated with University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University, where residents and medical students receive clinical training in chronic pain medicine.
He has presented on pain management at the Trauma Association of Canada and has delivered Grand Rounds at Odette Cancer Centre and for the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario. Dr. Rivlin remains actively engaged in chronic pain research; his learners presented 14 abstracts at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC). He is currently collaborating on the publication of a textbook on periprocedural pain management and is working to develop innovative strategies for pain management during sickle cell crisis.
