- Describe the prevalence of driving with dementia and dementia related driving risks.
- Develop a structured approach for initiating and conducting conversations about driving safety with patients experiencing cognitive decline and their families.
- Identify approaches to assessing fitness to drive in persons with dementia.
- clarify the physician’s ethical and professional responsibilities related to reporting medically unfit drivers to licensing authorities

Rameez Imtiaz MD, FRCP(C)
Staff Physician, Division of Geriatric Medicine, Humber River Health
Dr. Rameez Imtiaz received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa. He then completed his Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine residency at the University of Toronto. He completed his Master’s Degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto. He has been a staff Geriatrician at Humber River Hospital since 2024. His clinical work focuses on Geriatric Medicine care in the acute inpatient and ambulatory setting. He has a scholarly interest in advancing models of care that better address frailty and functional decline during emergent hospitalizations.
